About the Enchanted Garden

The Enchanted Garden is Changi Airport's first interactive-immersive garden, spanning 390 square metres in Terminal 2. At its heart stand four giant glass bouquet sculptures decorated with shimmering stained-glass mosaics, each one a breathtaking fusion of art and nature that changes with the seasons as freshly-cut flowers are swapped in.

As you walk through, motion sensors trigger sounds of nature and the effect of blooming flowers — birds chirping, water flowing, petals opening. The floor itself is embedded with fibre-optic and LED lighting that creates a carpet of sparkling lights beneath your feet, making the garden feel alive and responsive to your presence.

Undulating pathways guide you through the space, past a koi pond home to archerfish, and beneath floral arches that frame perfect photo opportunities. The combination of motion-activated audio, light, and living flowers creates an experience that feels genuinely magical — a garden that responds to you, rather than merely existing for you to observe.

The Enchanted Garden proves that airport gardens need not be passive. It invites participation, rewards exploration, and transforms a transit wait into an immersive experience you'll remember long after your flight.

Opened on 15 July 2013, the Enchanted Garden was Changi's fifth themed garden, replacing the former Fern Garden. The redesign brought a new level of interactivity to T2's garden legacy — undulating timber decking pathways guide visitors through the space, while a lush fern canopy overhead creates the feeling of walking through a magical forest. The koi pond offers a rare opportunity to feed the fish, including archerfish that shoot water jets at insects, adding another layer of engagement to the experience.

The garden was designed to evoke what Changi's official press release described as a "Shangri-La-like atmosphere." As Mr Yeo Kia Thye, Senior Vice President of Airport Operations, put it: passengers stroll through a tranquil and soothing sanctuary, complete with the sights and sounds of a magical forest. That ethos — part technology, part horticulture, part theatre — is what makes the Enchanted Garden unlike any other airport garden in the world.

Visitor Tips

Walk Slowly

Walk slowly along the timber decking to trigger the motion-activated displays. The sensors respond to movement — rushing through means missing the best effects.

Glass Bouquets & Fish Feeding

The glass bouquets are spectacular when lit, especially in the evening. View from the upper level escalator for a dramatic overhead perspective. You can also feed the koi and archerfish at the pond — a memorable, hands-on experience. This garden replaced the old Fern Garden in July 2013.
